WELCOME TO THE JMS COUNSELOR CORNER

WHAT DOES MY SCHOOL COUNSELOR DO?
As your School counselor I am  all about helping to make your school experience the best it can be. The role of the school counselor today is very different from what it was like when your parents were in school. Instead of just focusing on schoolwork and careers, I am there for you in a broader way. I help students handle almost any problem that might get in the way of learning, guide students to productive futures, and try to create a positive environment for everyone at school. So if you need a counselor's advice, just ask! Or just stop in to see me some time.

Parent Toolkit
Learn about your child’s academic and personal growth and development in the middle school years.  The "Parent Toolkit" website offers information to support parents as children progress from pre-K through high school.

For example students during the 6th grade may be experiencing many changes both academically and personally.   He/she may be starting more strenuous course work while also forming more social connections. Many children in this age group experience growth spurts as they move into adolescence.
